Description

The Biosciences Research and Commercialization Center, established by the Michigan Legislature in 2003 and based at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, is a nonprofit investor providing startup and gap funding to Michigan-based life sciences and medical device ventures entering commercialization. It backs biotech therapeutics, diagnostics, medical devices, health IT, and related companies, has invested roughly $20 million across dozens of startups, and has helped them leverage hundreds of millions in follow-on capital. It was recently recapitalized through the Michigan Innovation Fund.
